Wallner out for six weeks
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions have received notification that their Austrian star Fritz Wallner is likely to be sidelined for around another six weeks.
Trump-card reserve Wallner crashed out in a Heat 2 incident at Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago, sustaining broken bones in his hand.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We weren’t sure how long Fritz was due to be out for, but now we have a better idea.
“He’d received different diagnoses, so it was a bit unclear.
“But he’s now seen the specialist and is due to have surgery on his hand today (Thursday), and then has to wear a plaster for six weeks. After that, he should be ready for action again.”
The club are currently using guest riders to replace 31-year-old Wallner, but have been restricted since he only has an assessed average of 4.00.
Scorpions are in action twice over the weekend – at Berwick on Saturday and at home to Edinburgh at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday evening (5.30pm).
