Good Friday double-header at the EWR
NEW-LOOK STEELERS JOIN SCORPIONS IN GOOD FRIDAY DOUBLE-HEADER
THE FIXTURES for the rebranded Steelers – the joint WSRA National League side for Scunthorpe and Sheffield – have been released and there will be THREE mouthwatering double headers at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway during 2025.
This season, there will be three home meetings for Steelers at Scunthorpe and two at Sheffield. The home meetings to Middlesbrough, Oxford and Edinburgh will take place at the EWR.
On Good Friday (April 18), there will be a double-header commencing at 3pm at the EWR, with the Scunthorpe Scorpions facing Redcar Bears in the BSN Series, followed by Steelers taking on the Middlesbrough Tigers – Redcar’s second side. It is the opening home fixture for both Scorpions and Steelers.
Likewise, Steelers’ home meetings to Oxford Chargers and Edinburgh Monarchs Academy will also coincide with the visit of the senior team, on Friday, June 20 and Friday, July 25 respectively. Both are these double-headers are planned to start at 7pm.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Our Good Friday clash with Redcar is always highly anticipated and, this year, it should be better than ever – since the two clubs meet at two different levels in 30 races of action. It’s going to be a bumper day for both sets of supporters.
“We’ve matched up all our home meetings for the Steelers, and we’ve also got Oxford and Edinburgh in double-headers at the Eddie Wright Raceway. It should result in a healthy number of away fans making the trip and a great atmosphere on the terraces.”
Before the team action gets underway, the prestigious Championship League Riders’ Championship launches the 21st season of action at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, April 6 (3pm).
