Scorpions slide to home defeat
SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS 40 PETERBOROUGH PANTHERS 53 (PREMIER LEAGUE)
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions slipped to a 40-53 home defeat to Peterborough Panthers at the Eddie Wright Raceway yesterday afternoon (Bank Holiday Monday).
Scunthorpe were undone by a trio of high-scoring visitors; ex-Scorpion Simon Lambert (15 paid 16), guest Kevin Doolan (also, 15 paid 16) and Ulrich Ostergaard (12 paid 14).
In contrast, Scorpions provided just four heat winners, with skipper Josh Auty top scoring with 13 points, which included a storming win from behind as a double-point tactical ride in Heat 10.
There was plenty of entertaining racing on show, but Panthers held the upper hand and won the meeting with three races remaining.
Peterborough recorded two wins yesterday, also defeating Ipswich by 56-36 in a home match in the evening, and now head the Premier League table.
