FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions have announced the fifth member of their 2014 Premier League team, popular Dane Thomas Jørgensen.

The 21-year-old will return for a fourth consecutive season in Scorpions’ colours at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I’m delighted to Thomas is back again.

“He’s had his problems with shoulder injuries in the time he’s been with us, but towards the end of last season, he got himself going again and managed to complete half a season without getting injured.

“It’s been his Achilles’ heel, his shoulder, but he’s got strength back in it now and he’s been riding like he was when he first came here.

“I’m predicting 2014 will be the biggest year in Thomas Jorgensen’s career so far. It’s almost do-or-die for Thomas and I’m sure it will be ‘do’. People take time getting over injuries and that’s where his problem has been.

“As a club, we’ve been very unlucky with shoulder injuries, what with David Howe as well, but I’m positive both Thomas and David are going to be big hitters next year.

“Thomas is a bit more settled now, he’s got a girlfriend and he knows he needs to earn money. He was a key part for us, the key player as to which way we went with the team, and once we knew everything was sorted with Thomas, away we went.

“He starts on a green sheet average of 6.15, but he’s another potential No. 1.”

The likeable Dane, who always has a smile on his face, is a big hit with Scorpions’ fans – having been voted Rider Of The Year in both 2010 and 2011.

Despite stiff competition from several other Premier League clubs, Jørgensen agreed to sign for the Scorpions for the 2011 season in October 2010, prior to winning the Rob Woffinden Memorial meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway later that month.
