SCUNTHORPE STAGS 19 KING’S LYNN YOUNG STARS 71 (NATIONAL LEAGUE)

SCUNTHORPE STAGS lost 19-71 at home in a National League match to the King’s Lynn Young Stars yesterday (Sunday).

Despite the disparity in scoreline, there was some good racing during the meeting, although often the Stags left themselves too much to do after slow starts.

Tyler Govier (pictured), with his wrist and shoulder injuries from a winter spill having sufficiently recovered, made his first appearance for the Stags for four weeks, and rode steadily to three points.

Stags’ team manager Richard Hollingsworth said: “It was a tough day for our lads today, although they are learning all the time.

“It was King’s Lynn’s second visit of the season, and they were clearly dialled into the track from the off. They rode very well.”

SCUNTHORPE 19: Steve Jones 5, Danno Verge 4+1, Sam Chapman 3, Ryan MacDonald 3, Tyler Govier (no.8) 3, Adam Kirby 1, Liam Sanderson 0, Arron Mogridge r/r.
KING’S LYNN 71: Lewis Rose 12+3, Kyle Hughes 12+3, Darren Mallett 12, James Cockle 11+1, Scott Campos 9+1, Josh Bailey 8+2, Marc Owen 7+2.
