JOSH AUTY makes a quick return to action to the FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions in their League Cup clash at Sheffield tonight (Thursday, 7.45pm).

The 23-year-old pulled out of Sunday’s home meeting with Redcar with knee ligament injuries. But he is ready to make his comeback tonight.

Both Auty and Ashley Birks are former Sheffield riders, and the Scorpions management will be hoping that their track expertise will help Scunthorpe to a revenge win over their local rivals, who won 48-42 at the Eddie Wright Raceway 11 days ago.

Claus Vissing is the guest for injured Scorpions’ No 1 Anders Mellgren.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It could go either way tonight. It was a close match between the two clubs at the Eddie Wright Raceway and tonight could be the same.”

Expected teams:

Sheffield Tigers: 1. Simon Stead, 2. Simon Nielsen, 3. Leigh Lanham, 4. Taylor Poole, 5. Adam Roynon, 6. Andre Compton, 7. Josh Bates.

FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1.Claus Vissing (guest) , 2. David Howe, 3. Thomas Jørgensen, 4. Ashley Birks, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Matt Williamson, 7. Ryan Douglas.

* Redcar’s Aaron Summers is due to guest for Scunthorpe in their key Premier League clash with Somerset at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (3pm).
