Scorpions vs Diamonds heat-by-heat action

ALEX SUMMERFIELD captures the action from each heat of Bank Holiday Monday’s absorbing clash between Scunthorpe & Newcastle.

Heat 1: First blood to Michael Palm Toft (blue), while Josh Auty (red) would come through to join him for an opening 5-1.

Heat 2: Great PL debut ride from Jack Smith (blue), as he rounds Danny Phillips to join Carl Wilkinson for another 5-1 for Scunthorpe.

Heat 3: Lewis Kerr leaves Ludvig Lindgren in his wake.

Fritz Wallner powers past Ludvig Lindgren in Heat 3… as Scorpions take yet another 5-1!

Heat 4: Ryan Douglas leads from Josh Bates and Jack Smith.

Lewis wins battle with Viktor Palovaara for second place in Heat 5.  Race-winner Ricky Wells is out of shot. This is the only point Lewis dropped all afternoon against his old club.

Heat 6: A fine win for Arthur Sissis, despite pressure from the chasing MPT & Josh.

Heat 7: Another win for Ryan, ahead of Lindgren & Wilko.

Heat 8: MPT gains revenge over Arthur Sissis (yellow), with Palovaara (white) also in shot.

Heat 9: Fritz Wallner re-passes Josh Bates in a fine battle for second place.

MPT & Matej Kus side-by-side in Heat 10.  Kus kick-started his afternoon by winning the race.

Ryan is left on the start-line with a broken rear chain in Heat 11, his only blip during the afternoon.

Heat 12: Lewis Kerr foils tactical ride Matej Kus, as Scorpions wrap up the points with three heats to spare.

Ryan passes Ricky Wells to win Heat 13.

Ludvig Lindgren & Fritz The Blitz side-by-side in Heat 14.

Ludvig Lindgren and Lewis Kerr come together in the first staging of Heat 15. Lewis would be replaced by Fritz in the re-run; but don’t worry, he’s OK, it was just a slight knock to the wrist.

Heat 15 re-run: Ryan Douglas again through from behind to foil Ricky Wells.
