BRITISH CHAMPION Danny King will make an appearance at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (6.30pm), as the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions entertain the Ipswich Witches in Premier League action.

King, the No 1 for the Witches, triumphed at Manchester’s National Speedway Stadium in mid-June.

After wash-outs against Edinburgh and Rye House, recent Scorpions’ signing Lewis Kerr is set to make his home debut for the club… ironically against the club which released him less than a month ago.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s a very attractive fixture for a number of reasons.

“The Witches have newly-crowned British Champion Danny King spearheading their attack.

“We’ve recently signed Lewis Kerr from Ipswich, and he’ll be really keen to prove the point that he shouldn’t have been the one to go when the Witches swooped for Ben Barker, after Ben had been released by Glasgow.

“It promises to be a meeting with some fabulous racing; there’s out-and-out racers on both sides. You’re almost guaranteed a humdinger of a race, when Josh Auty and Ben Barker are racing against each other.

“And, of course, we all remember last summer’s home match against Ipswich, which was ‘lively’ to say the least, so let’s hope for a repeat of that in the entertainment stakes, with the right result this time.”
