SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS 46 REDCAR BEARS 44 (BSN Series)

ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions won a thrilling Good Friday afternoon meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway earlier today – prevailing by 46-44 against the Redcar Bears in the BSN Series after heroics from Jake Allen in the final race.

Scorpions took the lead with a 4-2 from Steve Worrall and Luke Harrison in Heat 1, but Redcar then pulled ahead at 16-14 after five races.

A 5-1 from Harrison and Zaine Kennedy in the Heat 8 then thrust Scorpions back into the lead at 25-23.

Remarkably, the final seven races were all shared as a 3-3. In the first six of those, Bears provided the heat-winner, before Allen held off both Charles Wright and the previously unbeaten Danny King to win Heat 15.

Scorpions provided just three-heat winners – Worrall in Heat 1, Harrison in Heat 8 and Allen in Heat 15. Bears provided the other 12 heat-winners, with their heat-leader trio of King, Charles and Riss bagging 10 race wins between them.

Conversely, Scorpions had the better all-around team strength, with only three last places all afternoon.

Arguably, Scorpions’ match-winners were the Australian Kennedy brothers – Declan and Zaine – at reserve, who bagged 13 paid 17 between them.

The two brothers both overtook Tom Spencer to ensure Heat 2 finished as a 3-3 and then improved by the ride. Declan Kennedy, a newcomer to British Speedway in 2025, scored a highly-impressive eight points – four second places –  in his first-ever competitive meeting on his home track.

There were some fantastic racing on display, and both sides played their part in an enthralling contest.
