SCORPIONS SEEK BETTER AWAY FORM AT OXFORD

ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions travel to the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium for a second time in 2025 – in a Cab Direct Championship clash this evening (Wednesday) at 7.30pm.
Scorpions track an unchanged line-up from last week – with Luke Harrison and skipper Simon Lambert again at reserve. Harrison scored a whopping 16+3 against Oxford in a cup clash at the Eddie Wright Raceway last Friday.
Scunthorpe have featured in two fixtures in the Cab Direct Championship so far – a home draw with Glasgow and an away defeat at Poole. With Scorpions eliminated from both the BSN Series and MAXiCab Knockout Cup, they are determined to make their mark on the league competition.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We lost by 20 points at Oxford in early April, but I’m expecting a much better performance this time around. That was our very first meeting of the season and we were very rusty.
“We realise that can’t just rely on our home form around the Eddie Wright Raceway and that we need to start performing better in our away meetings. There’s no reason why that can’t start at Oxford, and for us to put in a good account of ourselves.
“It’s also our last meeting for nine days and we’d like to go into that mini-break on the back of a positive performance.”
Expected teams for tonight (Wednesday):
SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs powered by County Plumbing Supplies: 1. Sam Masters (C), 2. Danyon Hume (guest), 3. Cameron Heeps, 4. Francis Gusts, 5. Jordan Jenkins, 6. Mitch McDiarmid, 7. Luke Killeen.
Ellie Rose Travel Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Steve Worrall, 2. Declan Kennedy, 3. Zaine Kennedy, 4. Connor Mountain, 5. Jake Allen, 6. Luke Harrison, 7. Simon Lambert (C).
* ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions are next at home, when they host the Berwick Bandits in the Cab Direct Championship at the Eddie Wright Raceway a week on Friday (June 6) at 7.30pm.
