MPT returns to Scorpions
The Scunthorpe Scorpions are pleased to announce the return of Michael Palm Toft to the club.
Palm Toft last rode for the Scorpions in 2024, and although he finished the season injured, he was the number one at that time. David Howe feels that he has a vital role in the club’s plans. “When we started to look at the 2026 season, I was looking at riders’ averages, and to be honest, Tofty’s stood out. I know averages don’t lie, but after missing a decent chunk of the season, he was always going to be up against it last year. Michael was the first rider I called and spoke to about this season. On a 6.10 rolling average, Tofty around Scunthorpe should make a mockery of that. It’s not that long ago he was at number one, so I expect, especially at home, a big improvement from him. It was also very important to me that we signed a rider who would keep the number one jacket and take the pressure off Tofty. Josh obviously fits that bill. I’ve said it loads now, my aim at first is to win at home, and I’d be a fool not to use Tofty on that average. I get that there will be the odd away meetings where he will find things slightly more difficult, but there will also be those away meetings where he will fly and be a match winner for us. I like the feel of the team. I think that there will be a good environment and both youth and experience.”
