BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Scunthorpe v Glasgow

SCORPIONS IN MOUTH-WATERING CLASH AT EDDIE WRIGHT RACEWAY
ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions commence their home league fixtures in the Cab Direct Championship when they host Glasgow Tigers at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow evening (Friday, May 16) at 7.30pm.
Glasgow and Scunthorpe won the major silverware two years ago in 2023 – with Tigers winning the Cab Direct Championship and Scorpions taking the Knockout Cup.
Tigers have constructed a top-heavy but highly effective side this season, which has only lost once and has a 100 per cent record in four away matches.
Both Luke Harrison and Declan Kennedy picked up knocks during a defeat at reigning champions Poole on Wednesday, but Scorpions’ management are hopeful they will line-up at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “The Ellie Rose Travel Scorpions laid down a marker regarding our home form last week with a 61-29 victory over Workington in our final BSN Series meeting.
“I said we wanted to make the Eddie Wright Raceway a fortress and we’ve started to do that. Glasgow have started the season well and have proved to be highly competitive on their travels, but I know if we’re firing on all cylinders that we take another decent-sized victory.
“The win is always the first priority, but there’s also building up a lead, because I feel the Cab Direct Championship is more competitive than ever this season and aggregate bonus points are going to prove vital in the battle for play-off places at the end of the season.
“Glasgow do have an attractive-looking side, but we’re strong at home. I’m expecting a highly entertaining night of speedway, and I hope our loyal supporters get right behind our boys.”
