ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions commence their 2025 season when they travel to the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium tonight (Wednesday) in the MAXiCab Knockout Cup.

It’s the first leg of a quarter-final tie. ahead of the second leg at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday, May 23. The aggregate winners will progress to the semi-finals.

Scunthorpe Speedway staged a highly successful Championship League Riders’ Championship at the EWR on Sunday, while the team action gets underway with a double-header against Redcar on Good Friday (April 19) at 3pm. Before that, there’s the trip to Oxford tonight, with Australian Zaine Kennedy returning to British Speedway after a two-year absence and younger brother Declan making his British Speedway debut. No 1 Steve Worrall returns to ride for Scorpions for the first time since 2018.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godrey says: “We want a positive result at Oxford, so can we progress to the next round after the return leg takes place at the Eddie Wright Raceway on May 23.

“We won the Cup in 2023, after beating Poole in a memorable final, and we’d love to regain it this season. It’s great that the Cup has new sponsors this season in MAXiCab.

“I can’t wait for the season to start for the Ellie Rose Travel Scunthorpe Scorpions – I feel an exciting year is ahead.”
