SCORPIONS SEEK POINTS FROM SCOTTISH TRIP
ELLIE ROSE TRAVEL Scunthorpe Scorpions are hoping to bag a second away victory in the Cab Direct Championship at Edinburgh tomorrow evening (Friday, 7.30pm).
Fresh from qualifying for the semi-finals of both the BSN Series and Cab Direct Knockout Cup, Scorpions turn their attentions back to the league programme, having won their Cab Direct Championship opener at Redcar by 46-44 earlier this month.
Scorpions are again due to be full strength. Edinburgh are without Josh Pickering (injured) and Paco Castagna (World Championship duty), but have arguably strengthened with some good guest replacements, Sam Masters and Drew Kemp.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We used to have a pretty poor record at Edinburgh, but we won there twice last season. A lot of our lads go well around the tight confines of Armadale and we will approach the meeting with a positive attitude.
“Edinburgh had a disappointing home result against Plymouth last Friday, and I’m expecting to see a reaction from the Monarchs, so we need to guard against that and make sure we’re on the ball.”
For those who cannot make the long journey to Armadale, British Speedway Network (BSN) are streaming the meeting at: https://watch.britishspeedway.co.uk/
Expected teams for Friday:
Edinburgh Monarchs: 1. Sam Masters (guest), 2. Lasse Fredriksen, 3. Kye Thomson, 4. Drew Kemp (guest), 5. Justin Sedgmen, 6. Max James, 7. Connor Coles.
Ellie Rose Travel Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Kyle Howarth, 2. Connor Mountain, 3. Simon Lambert (captain), 4. Jake Allen, 5. Michael Palm Toft, 6. Nathan Ablitt, 7. Luke Harrison.
