SCORPIONS AIM TO FINISH REGULAR SEASON IN STYLE

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are aiming to warm up for the Cab Direct Championship play-offs with a strong result against Berwick Bandits in their final regular fixture at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm).

Berwick took a narrow 47-43 in Northumberland in May, and Scunthorpe need 48 points to ensure the aggregate bonus point. Scorpions can move up to fourth place in the league table by taking all three points, including the aggregate bonus point, although whether they would remain in that position is dependent on the Redcar vs Glasgow result on Sunday.

Scorpions’ promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ll certainly be looking to complete our regular 16 Cab Direct Championship fixtures with a win over the Berwick in readiness for the start of the play-off semi-finals.

“It certainly won’t be a walkover – Bandits have experienced a difficult season and will want a positive result in their final away meeting of their season. But if the lads are firing, I am confident that we can take all three points on offer. Last time we were at home, we took a very good result against Glasgow and we’d like to continue in a similar vein.

“I’m sure the fans are in for a treat, with former Grand Prix star Hans Andersen in action for the Bandits. I’m expecting some top-notch racing on display.”

The club will be holding their annual collection for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund during the night, so please give as generously as you can for this most worthy of causes.

Accompanied children aged 16 and under will be admitted free all season to speedway meetings at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

For those who cannot make it to the Eddie Wright Raceway, Scorpions are live streaming home meetings for just £11.99 at: https://tv.scunthorpe-speedway.com/
