ANOTHER CRACKER AHEAD AT THE EDDIE WRIGHT RACEWAY

THIRD-PLACED Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions are seeking another three points in the Cab Direct Championship when they host the Berwick Bandits at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday, 7.30pm).

Berwick took a narrow 47-43 in Northumberland in May, and Scorpions need 48 points to ensure the aggregate bonus point. Scorpions beat Birmingham by 51-39 at the EWR last Friday, before their clash at league leaders Oxford on Wednesday was rained off.

Scunthorpe are still without ankle injury victim Michael Palm Toft. They use rider replacement for the Dane, with everyone except No 1 Ryan Douglas eligible for a ride. The publication of the August Green Sheet Averages sees Connor Mountain move up to No 2, will Drew Kemp will line up at No 7.

Former Grand Prix Hans Andersen makes his debut for Berwick, in place of the injured Thomas Jorgensen.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I’m sure we are in for a good match against Berwick, who have made team changes this week by signing Hans Andersen and also Steve Boxall at reserve.

“I’m expecting another stiff test for the boys. I said it was going to be tough last Friday against Birmingham and I was proved right, and I think Bewick will also present a challenge.

“Having said that, if we ride to our capabilities, I fully believe we can take all three points on offer. It would be our fourth aggregate bonus point collected out of four. I said all along how important taking those would be. Our target of reaching the play-offs is going well, but every team in this league is competitive and we can’t afford to rest on our laurels.

“With kids free, it’s going to be another great evening to bring along the family to see some top-class speedway action at the Eddie Wright Raceway.”

Accompanied children aged 16 and under will be admitted free all season to speedway meetings at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

For those who cannot make it to the Eddie Wright Raceway, Scorpions are live streaming home meetings for just £11.99 at: https://tv.scunthorpe-speedway.com/
