SCORPIONS WON’T TAKE BRUMMIES FOR GRANTED

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are seeking their fifth victory of the season over Birmingham Brummies when the two sides meet for the third time this year at the Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow (Friday, 7.30pm) – and a win would move Scorpions back into the top three of the Cab Direct Championship table.

Scorpions have done the double over Brummies in both the BSN Series and the Knockout Cup, and the two previous results at the Eddie Wright Raceway were 55-35 and 61-29.

Scunthorpe continue to be without Danish ace Michael Palm Toft – recovering from an ankle injury – and Zach Cook will again come in as a guest. Three weeks ago, Cook scored 8+2 for Scorpions in a 51-39 victory over Edinburgh – the previous meeting at the EWR.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ve won all four matches against Brummies so far, but there can be no room for complacency against a side that has Poole’s Richard Lawson guesting at No 1 for Nick Morris, recent signing Troy Batchelor at No 3 and Justin Sedgmen completing a very solid heat leader trio.

“Sedgmen and Alfie Bowtell are the only survivors from the last time that Brummies were here at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

“We’re expecting a much stiffer test from Birmingham this time, and we’ll treat them with respect, while our main objective will be to win the meeting and our second objective will be to build up a lead to take to Perry Barr on August 23 so that we are in command of the aggregate bonus point.

“I’m sure it’s going to be another terrific night of action, and now we’re into the school summer holidays, I hope plenty of families will take advantage that all kids aged 16 and under are free for speedway meetings at the Eddie Wright Raceway this season.”

For those who cannot make it to the Eddie Wright Raceway, the British Speedway Network (BSN) are live streaming the meeting for just £11.99 at: https://watch.britishspeedway.co.uk/

Accompanied children aged 16 and under will be admitted free all season to speedway meetings at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
