ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will seek to stop reigning league champions Poole Pirates from knocking up a big score when the two teams meet at Wimborne Road tonight (7.30pm).

Scunthorpe face two away meetings this week in the Cab Direct Championship – at Poole tonight and Edinburgh on Friday.

Scorpions travel to Dorset tonight, using the rider replacement facility for Michael Palm Toft, who is riding in the Danish League.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Poole have been a bit vulnerable at home recently, and are without Richard Lawson, who picked up a knock at Leicester the other night, so we’ve got to go there with a positive attitude, get stuck in and see what it brings us.

“You go into every meeting with the intention to win it, but the aggregate bonus points are going to be very important in the Cab Direct Championship. If you pick them up, you’ve out-scored the other team across the two leagues.

“We’ve already put ourselves in a good position to pick up the bonus points from Plymouth and Berwick. We will be heading to Poole and looking to score as many points as possible, so that we can pick up the bonus point when they head back to the Eddie Wright Raceway in August.”

Expected teams for tonight (Wednesday):

Poole Pirates: 1. Steve Worrall, 2. Anders Rowe, 3. Ben Cook, 4. Zach Cook, 5. Justin Sedgmen (guest), 6. Kyle Newman, 7. Adam Roynon

Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Ryan Douglas, 2. Michael Palm Toft R/R, 3. Simon Lambert (captain), 4. Max Clegg, 5. Jake Allen, 6. Nathan Ablitt, 7. Connor Mountain.
