Scorpions: target 41 points!
ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions visit Redcar on Friday in their final group qualification match in the northern section of the BSN Series knowing that the acquisition of the aggregate bonus point would win the group and secure their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
Scorpions currently boost a 100% record from three matches in 2023, with a 50-40 home victory over Redcar followed by home and away victories over the Birmingham Brummies, as they head their BSN group on an unblemished seven points.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We know what we need to do at Redcar, although the simplest way to achieve our qualification would be to go there and win the meeting.
“Redcar Bears have got a good side this season, but so have we. We’ve already shown this season that our side is strong in all areas and it’s well within our capabilities to win the meeting. But, obviously more than anything we know that if score 41 points or more, then we’re through and it would be a great way to head into a busy week next week.”
Adam Roynon will guest for the injured Zaine Kennedy at Redcar. The last time he rode for Scorpions at the ECCO Arena, Roynon scored 11+1.
Expected teams for tomorrow (Friday):
Redcar Bears: 1. Richard Lawson (guest), 2. Connor Bailey, 3. Charles Wright, 4. Danyon Hume, 5. Danny King, 6. Jason Edwards, 7. Jake Mulford.
Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Ryan Douglas, 2. Simon Lambert (captain), 3. Connor Mountain, 4. Jake Allen, 5. Michael Palm Toft, 6. Adam Roynon (guest), 7. Joe Thompson.
