SCORPIONS IN CAB DIRECT CHAMPIONSHIP OPENER
ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are involved in the opening league fixture in the Cab Direct Championship when Oxford Cheetahs are the visitors to the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday (7.30pm).
Scorpions started their season last week with an excellent 50-40 win over Redcar Bears in the BSN Series in front of a bumper Good Friday crowd.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It was great performance from the Attis Insurance Scorpions to beat Redcar, as we’re very much aiming for another victory this week over Oxford.
“It’ll be an interesting meeting, with Sam Masters, Scott Nicholls and Lewi Kerr leading the Oxford side, and there’s a guarantee of some thrilling racing, but I firmly believe we enough strength throughout our side to defeat the Cheetahs.
“Of course, it’s the very first league meeting in the Cab Direct Championship, so with a victory, we can get an early march on the rest of the sides in the league.”
Lasse Fredriksen will guest for Scorpions in place of the injured Zaine Kennedy.
Accompanied children aged 16 and under will be admitted free all season to speedway meetings at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
For those who cannot make it to the Eddie Wright Raceway, Scorpions are live streaming home meetings for just £11.99 at: https://tv.scunthorpe-speedway.com/
