SCORPIONS LOOK TO BEAT THE CHAMPS!

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are confident that they can pass one of their toughest tests of the season at the Eddie Wright Raceway, when defending champions Poole Pirates are the visitors tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm.

Scorpions have won their last three home fixtures, including an impressive 50-40 victory over high-flying Glasgow last Friday. It was much tougher in the return fixture up at Glasgow on Sunday, but Scorpions are again ready to show that they are a force to be reckoned with around their home track.

Scunthorpe are due to be back at full strength, with the return of Tero Aarnio from suspension and World Championship duty.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Every match is a biggie now, but they don’t come much bigger than tonight’s fixture against the reigning champions Poole, who are up at the top end of the table as always.

“We had a great win against Glasgow last Friday and we know what we’ve got to do tonight in what is another must win match.

“Poole came here last year and we managed to beat them, we were one of the few teams who did, and we’ll adopt the same philosophy again and do our best to send them packing.

“I’m sure it will be another brilliant speedway of speedway at the Eddie Wright Raceway, as our lads do battle with the likes of Danny King, Stevie Worrall and Richard Lawson. It’s one not to be missed.”
