GLASGOW TIGERS 59 SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS 31 (CHAMPIONSHIP)

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions failed to pick up any league points from their visit to Glasgow’s Peugeot Ashfield Stadium yesterday (Sunday), with Glasgow Tigers winning by 59-31.

The start time was delayed by two hours from 3pm to 5pm, after a heavy downpour before the meeting, while the Glasgow got the track staff back into a raceable condition.

Glasgow took the lead with a 5-1 in Heat 2 and had built up a 26-16 lead after seven races.

Scunthorpe skipper Simon Lambert (pictured) was the first Scorpion to take the chequered flag in Heat 8, but any chance of Scorpions taking a point from the meeting took a major knock when their tactical substitute ride was thwarted in Heat 9. Ryan Douglas came into the race alongside Jake Allen, but it was the Glasgow pair of Ulrich Ostergaard and Benjamin Basso who took a 5-1.

The final five races saw Tigers finish with a flourish, as they pulled further away, although Douglas and Allen kept the previously unbeaten Tom Brennan at the back in Heat 13, to ensure the visitors reached the 30-point-mark.

Douglas ended up as top scorer for Scorpions with eight points from six rides, while guest Justin Sedgmen did a solid job to score seven from four. Lambert scored 6+1 and spoilt the maximum of Basso when he passed him in Heat 5.

GLASGOW 59: Benjamin Basso 12+1, Tom Brennan 10, Craig Cook 9, Ulrich Ostergaard 8+1, Broc Nicol 8+1, Danyon Hume 7+2, Connor Bailey 5+1.
SCUNTHORPE 31: Ryan Douglas 8, Justin Sedgmen 7, Simon Lambert 6+1, Jake Allen 5+1, Zaine Kennedy 4+3, Jordan Palin 1, Connor Coles 0.
