SCORPIONS WANT REPEAT PERFORMANCE AT GLASGOW

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are planning to defeat Glasgow Tigers for the second time within 48 hours when the two sides clash at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium this afternoon (Sunday) at 3pm.

Scorpions took an excellent 50-40 victory over Glasgow at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday evening, which sprung them up into the play-off places in sixth position in the Championship league table.

Scunthorpe are again missing Tero Aarnio, who was riding in his World Championship qualifier in Zarnovica, Slovakia yesterday. The Finn was eliminated after scoring three points. Justin Sedgmen will ride for Scorpions in place of Aarnio, in his third guest appearance for the club this season. Sedgmen recently played a major role in helping Edinburgh knock Glasgow out of the cup.

Scorpions’ team manager Dave Peet said: “We’re taking some momentum into this meeting, having defeated Glasgow at our place on Friday night, and we’ve got to use that to our advantage. We’ve put in some decent performances at Glasgow in the past and we need to do that again.”

Unfortunately, Glasgow Speedway no longer offer a streaming service for their home meetings.

Expected teams for today (Sunday):

Glasgow Tigers: 1. Craig Cook, 2. Connor Bailey, 3. Ulrich Ostergaard, 4. Benjamin Basso, 5. Tom Brennan, 6. Danyon Hume, 7. Broc Nicol.

Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Ryan Douglas, 2. Simon Lambert (captain), 3. Zaine Kennedy, 4. Justin Sedgmen (guest), 5. Jake Allen, 6. Connor Coles, 7. Jordan Palin.

* ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions host defending league champions Poole at the Eddie Wright Raceway next Friday (June 17, 7.30pm) in what promises to be an epic encounter.
