SCORPIONS LOOK TO BUILD ON POSITIVE RUN

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are hoping to keep their run of good results going, when they host the Plymouth Gladiators at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm.

Scorpions have scored seven points from their last three Championship matches – with convincing home wins over Leicester (55-35) and Birmingham (54-36), before picking up a well-earned point at Plymouth on Tuesday night, for a narrow away loss (42-48), after an impressive fightback in the closing five races.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It was an excellent result at Plymouth on Tuesday and perhaps a point we weren’t expecting giving the way that Gladiators had smashed Leicester the previous week. To get a point there has given us a lot of confidence.

“We can’t rest though because we have got to do it again tonight and make sure we take all three points against what is a good Plymouth team at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

“I think this year’s Championship will come down to away points because I don’t think there are going to be many away wins. It means you’re actively trying to stop the away team from getting a point because it will be crucial at the end of the season.

“A great night of racing lies ahead, between two talented teams, and it’s going to be another exciting meeting as we look to keep our excellent home form going.”
