THE date of Josh Auty’s testimonial meeting at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway has been brought forward to Saturday, March 19th (5pm).

It was due to take place around a month later, on Good Friday, but Auty explained on his social media channels: “Due to rider availability, I am re-scheduling my testimonial. I will be announcing my line-up very soon.”

Josh Auty is the club’s leading all-time points scorer, having two spells with Scunthorpe Scorpions, covering 2005 to 2007 and 2012 to 2021, and the only rider to three league championships with the North Lincolnshire club. He is riding for Birmingham Brummies this season.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey explained: “I wanted Josh’s meeting to be a big success and we offered him a prime date on Good Friday.

“It became obvious that, because so a lot of teams ride on Good Friday, rider availability was a nightmare that day and it would have killed the meeting.

“Instead, we’ve offered him another prime date – the very first Saturday of the season. Not a lot of clubs will have started by then and it will be one of the very first meetings of the season and hopefully it will attract along a lot of supporters.

“Of course, his testimonial was originally going to be held in March 2020, but it was called off just a few days in advance when the speedway season was suspended due to Covid-19. Josh has had to wait a while, and I hope his patience is rewarded when his meeting is a roaring success.”
