ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will have to go into their biggest meetings of the season minus heat-leader Thomas Jorgensen.

The popular Dane will face at least four weeks on the sidelines. He sustained ligament damage to his knee, plus concussion, in a crash at Sheffield on Sunday.

Jorgensen revealed on his Facebook account: “I’m very sorry to say that my season is now over, and I won’t be fit to ride in the Championship play-offs for Scunthorpe.

“After my crash at Sheffield, I have concussion and ligament damage to my left knee which will keep me off a bike for at least four weeks.

“To say that I’m disappointed is an understatement, but it is what it is and I have to accept it – you certainly can’t take risks with concussion.

“All I can say is ‘good luck lads’ and a big thank you to my sponsors, fans and clubs for the 2021 season.”

Scunthorpe start their play-off campaign at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday at 7.30pm, with a vital home clash against Leicester Lions in the first leg of a quarter-final tie.

The second leg is due to take place at Leicester on Saturday and the aggregate winners will progress to the semi-finals.
