ADAM ELLIS, the No 1 of Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions and the new British Champion, will return to action for the club at Redcar tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm.

The 25-year-old missed the last two fixtures for Scorpions, since he was injured at Plymouth last Tuesday, just a day after he won the British Final at Belle Vue, and he was then away in the Grand Prix Challenge in Slovakia over the weekend.

Three Grand Prix places were up for grabs at Zarnovica. But Ellis, with hardly the best preparation after his bruising encounter at the Plymouth Coliseum, finished in 14th place on four points.

While Ellis returns tonight, both Theo Pijper and Tero Aarnio will be missing. Pijper is riding in a World Longtrack round in Poland on Saturday, while Aarnio is currently unavailable.

Max Clegg will guest for Pijper, while Scorpions will use rider replacement for Aarnio.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Redcar nearly took a win at our place a couple of weeks ago in a brilliant speedway meeting.

“It’s now our turn to attempt to repay that compliment and come away from Redcar with a victory.”

Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions’ expected line-up: 1. Adam Ellis, 2. Simon Lambert (captain), 3. Max Clegg (guest), 4. Rider replacement for Tero Aarnio, 5. Thomas Jorgensen, 6. Jordan Palin, 7. Josh MacDonald.

* ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are next in action at home at the Eddie Wright Raceway next Friday (September 3rd) at 7.30pm when they entertain reigning champions Leicester in what is certain to be a thrilling encounter.
