SCORPIONS AIMING FOR FIRST DOUBLE OF THE SEASON

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking to make it nine home league wins out of nine, when they host the Birmingham Brummies at the Eddie Wright Raceway this evening (Friday) at 7.30pm.

Scunthorpe are seeking to bounce back from away defeats at Plymouth and Poole earlier in the week, and can complete the double over Birmingham, having a recorded a 51-39 victory at Perry Barr on July 14.

Former Scorpion Lewis Kerr guests for British Champion Adam Ellis, who hopefully is fit enough to ride in the Grand Prix Challenge in Slovakia on Saturday, despite his crash at Plymouth on Tuesday.

It is also hoped that Josh MacDonald, another rider who crashed out in a torrid night at Plymouth when six out of seven Scorpions suffered a knock, will be fit to ride tonight. He missed Poole due to a wrist injury.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We may have already won at Birmingham, but we certainly won’t under-estimate them.

“Last Friday, we had a complete classic meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway, with the victory over Redcar, and we’ll be looking to serve up some more tremendous racing this week against the Brummies.

“After the defeats at Plymouth and Poole, this has become a meeting that we must win in our quest for a play-off place. It’s a meeting not to be missed.”
