Scorpions duo go for British Final glory

ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will be represented by both of their opening partnership, Adam Ellis and Simon Lambert, in the British Final at Belle Vue’s National Speedway Stadium tonight (Monday, 7.30pm).

Scorpions’ No 1 Ellis will start the meeting as one of the favourites. He is top form at the moment, and he played a key role in the 46-44 victory for Scorpions over Redcar at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday, top scoring with 13+1.

Ellis said: “It’s going to be a tough one and everyone’s going there to win it, but I’m definitely aiming for that top step this year.”

Scunthorpe skipper Lambert has had a great season and fully deserves his late call-up to the British Final.

Lambert said: “It’s a big meeting and it’s great advertising for my loyal sponsors. There’s no pressure on me, I’m just going to go and enjoy it!”

For those who can’t make it to Manchester, the meeting is live on Eurosport from 7.15pm.

They are away at Plymouth on Tuesday and Poole on Wednesday, before entertaining the Birmingham Brummies at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday (August 20th, 7.30pm). Third-placed Scorpions are just three points off the top of the Championship table.
