Big match preview – Scunthorpe v Redcar
SCORPIONS AIM TO LEAVE BEARS WITH A SORE HEAD
ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will be looking to make it eight home victories out of eight in the Championship, with a win over fellow play-off contenders Redcar Bears at the Eddie Wright Raceway this evening (Friday, August 13th).
It’s the first Scorpions’ action at the track in over a month, as a Scunthorpe vs Poole meeting was rained off a couple of weeks ago.
Scorpions are currently in fourth place and the top six teams will progress to the play-offs at the end of the season.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I think it’s going to be an absolutely superb match against our friends from Redcar at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
“Bears bring former Scorpions Jake Allen and Michael Palm Toft and with former British Champion Charles Wright in their line-up as well, the boys know they can expect to have their hands full, as we seek to extend our perfect home record to eight league wins out of eight.
“Unfortunately, Tero Aarnio will be missing, as his Finnish Championship meeting has been brought forward to 1pm on Saturday afternoon.
“Tero had flights arranged that would get him back into Finland in plenty of time to do the meeting, but they’ve brought the start-time forward to show it on Finnish TV.
“Tero has been pretty prolific for us at home this season and, on his average, there are no guests available that will do the sort of job Tero has been doing, and we will use rider replacement for him.
“The rest of the team have been riding well around the Eddie Wright Raceway, so we just need everyone to step up to the plate and do the business.”
Expected teams for tonight (Friday):
Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Adam Ellis, 2. Simon Lambert (captain), 3. Theo Pijper, 4. Rider replacement for Tero Aarnio, 5. Thomas Jorgensen, 6. Jordan Palin, 7. Josh MacDonald.
