ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are back in action around their home circuit for the first time in five weeks, when they host fellow play-off contenders Redcar Bears at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday evening (August 13th, 7.30pm).

A Scunthorpe vs Poole meeting was due to take place a couple of weeks ago, but the match was rained off.

Many of Scorpions’ play-off rivals have caught up with them in terms of fixtures, but the good news is that Scorpions remain in fourth in the battle for the top six and a place in the play-offs.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Our objectives are the same as before – to remain rock solid at home, while picking up some points on the road.

“The meeting on Friday against Redcar Bears certainly won’t be easy, because we know what the likes of Jake Allen and Michael Palm Toft can do around the Eddie Wright Raceway.

“But I believe we can get the win and the vital three league points that go with it, by showing the same team spirit as we did before, and also if the supporters come along and create the same kind of buzz on the terraces, because the riders were really feeding off that.

“Every meeting is important from now on, as we look to get the points that we need to ensure a place in the top six. Of course, Redcar have the same objective and that’s what should make Friday’s meeting such an exciting clash. Our fans have been starved of action for the last few weeks, but this meeting should make up for that because it should be a cracker.”

* THE new date for the historic home meeting against Poole at the Eddie Wright Raceway is Friday, September 10th at 7.30pm. Meanwhile Scorpions will travel to Glasgow on Sunday, September 5th.
