THIRD-PLACED Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions travel north of the border to take on leaders Glasgow Tigers at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium tonight (Friday, 7.30pm) – hoping to match their exploits from their last visit.

In August 2019, Scorpions took a brilliant 53-37 away win in the Championship at Glasgow, with Simon Lambert (pictured) top scoring with a sensational 12+5 tally.

17-year-old Jordan Palin will not be riding for Scorpions tonight, since he will en route to the final of the European Under-19 Championship in Riga, Latvia, which takes place on Saturday. Leicester’s Dan Thompson will replace Palin at Ashfield.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Glasgow is a track we can ride. We’ve got riders who can score points around the place, so it doesn’t really matter if they are top of the league.

“We’ll go up to Glasgow with the attitude that It’s a match that can be won.”

Attis Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions’ expected line-up: 1. Adam Ellis, 2. Simon Lambert (captain), 3. Theo Pijper, 4. Tero Aarnio, 5. Thomas Jorgensen, 6. Dan Thompson (guest), 7. Josh MacDonald.

* ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are back at home next Friday (August 13th, 7.30pm) at the Eddie Wright Raceway for a crucial clash against Redcar Bears. Due to the rain-off of the Scunthorpe v Poole fixture last week, it will be Scorpions’ first home fixture for five weeks. Former Scorpions Jake Allen and Michael Palm Toft are both in action for Bears.
