Big match preview – Scunthorpe v Eastbourne
ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are set to be back at full strength when they face highly fancied Eastbourne Eagles at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow (Friday, June 4, 7.30pm).
Scorpions will be looking to bounce back after successive defeats last weekend at home in the cup to Leicester and away to Berwick on Saturday. The weekend started in the worst possible fashion with a big clash involving Scunny No 1 Josh Auty and Leicester’s Nick Morris in Heat 1 at the EWR – and Auty was subsequently ruled out of the clash at Shielfield Park after sustaining damage to his knee.
Auty is due back against Eastbourne, while Eagles are without Drew Kemp, who is in action in the European Under-19 Pairs final in Poland.
Scunthorpe boss Rob Godfrey said: “We need to put last weekend behind us. An unscheduled heavy shower definitely had an effect on the track and we ended up having a bad night at the office against Leicester, no question.
“This week, there really shouldn’t be any rain. It’s going to be a terrific meeting against Eastbourne.
“It’s a shortened season this year for obvious reasons so we need to crack on in the league now, starting against Eastbourne when hopefully we can add another three points to our total.”
Tickets for the meeting are on sale on the club website.
