Big Match Preview – Scunthorpe v Leicester
SCORPIONS UP FOR THE CUP!
ATTIS INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions face a stern test with the visit of reigning league champions Leicester Lions in Knockout Cup action at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow (Friday, May 28, 7.30pm).
Scorpions registered an impressive season-opening 56-34 victory over Plymouth Gladiators at the EWR on Sunday, where every member of the side was paid for at least paid nine in a hugely solid performance.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “It was great to see the boys start the year with a comfortable victory over Plymouth, although Gladiators were very much a two-man team in Bjarne Pedersen and Jason Crump.
“Leicester are no doubt a bigger test, because I believe they have put a very good side together.
“The way I see it, we’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain, because everyone’s written us off. But as the performance against Plymouth demonstrated, when we’re firing on all cylinders, we will be very hard to beat.
“The weather is set fair this week, so it’s full steam ahead for a glorious evening of action – with hopefully Scorpions coming out on top!”
Tickets for the meeting are on sale on the club website.
