SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS will stage their press and practice this Sunday (4pm) at the Eddie Wright Raceway – behind closed doors.

It’s now just over a week until Scorpions open their fixtures with the visit of Plymouth – including treble World Champion Jason Crump and Danish former Grand Prix star Bjarne Pedersen – at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday, May 21 (7.30pm).

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “Sunday will be a really good chance for our riders to blow off the cobwebs and have a good practice.

“I’d love the fans to be there, but sadly that’s not possible – it’s one day before the public can be allowed in.

“The great news is that it’s still full steam ahead for the new season – nothing has changed in terms of the government’s timetable for speedway’s re-opening.

“It will only be a day or two before we’re planning to put tickets on sale for our first meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway against Plymouth, so fans should keep one eye out for that. It’s going to be both an emotional and an exciting occasion.”

As well as tickets due to go on sale within the next 48 hours, Scorpions will also publish their Covid guidelines within the next few days – these will be very close to the guidelines put in place for the three open meetings at the Eddie Wright Raceway in 2020.
