THE good news for supporters of the Scunthorpe Scorpions is that it will still cost £17 for the combined price of admission and a programme in 2021 – the price since 2018.

With track and trace still required, Scunthorpe Speedway will again be using online ticketing this season – as they did for the three meetings that took place at the Eddie Wright Raceway in 2020. Full details will be released in due course.

To encourage as little exchange of cash as possible, the programme price of £1 will be included in both the adult and student/OAP prices, but the overall price will remain the same.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey explained: “Effectively, we’ve kept the admission prices the same as they were, we’ve simply added the programme into the adult admission prices.

“The admission structure covers the opening five weeks of the season, while social distancing and other measures are still due to be in place.

“We know some of our supporters only like to deal with cash and a cash option will be available – we will have one of the turnstile booths open for them. But they will have to write down their address when they pay, so the quicker and preferred option is the online payment.

“Obviously, from June 21, things are currently due to currently open up and at that point, we may review procedures. But for the opening five weeks of the season, we encourage supporters to pay online.

“We will have various Covid protocols in place as well, but many of these will be similar to those in place for the three meetings we staged last season.”

Godfrey has also emphasised entertainment will be high on the agenda again at the Eddie Wright Raceway this season.

He said: “And as well as keeping the prices down for supporters, we will again be going all out to make sure the racing at Scunthorpe is second to none.

“We’re proud that many supporters from all over the country has visited and branded our racetrack the best in Britain – that means a lot.

“We have not rested on our laurels, and I’ve taken advantage of the recent lack of activity at the track during the most recent lockdown to remove the bump that was developing on the first bend and also take out the adverse camber coming out of the fourth turn.”

It’s now only three weeks Scunthorpe Scorpions take to the track for the first time in 2021 – with a mouthwatering home fixture on Friday, May 21 (7.30pm) against a Plymouth Gladiators side containing both treble World Champion Jason Crump and former Grand Prix star Bjarne Pedersen.
