Message from the top
WHAT a year.
My first thoughts are to offer sincere condolences to anyone who has lost loved ones through this pandemic.
But now is the time to look forward.
The loyalty of people towards this wonderful sport is remarkable.
I think a year with no league racing has underlined how important the sport is for the well-being of people. The social interaction, the company, friendships made not to mention the thrill of the meeting itself.
Our task is to continue banging the drum for this wonderful sport which, undeniably, is going through challenging times in the UK.
As a sport we must work to ensure we keep ourselves in the public eye as we build up to the return of racing.
We must also meet new challenges head on and for the greater good of the sport going forward.
At this time, which is so different to normal, I would urge all fans who have relatives or friends who live alone to give them a call for a chat – mainly about speedway and how we can’t wait to get back to it!
We all have our memories of favourite meetings, favourite riders and what we think about the way forward. Have a chat, it may just make someone’s Christmas.
On behalf of the board of directors at British Speedway Promoters Ltd I wish all club promoters, riders, track staff, sponsors and supporters around the country our compliments of the season.
Our determination remains to go racing at the first available opportunity next spring with Easter our current plan.
We cannot wait to see you all again.
Chairman – British Speedway Promoters Ltd.
