Terrific line-up for British Under-19 Championship
DEFENDING CHAMPION Drew Kemp leads a cracking line-up for the British Under-19 Championship at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, September 20th (5pm).
There are a limited number of tickets on sale for this grassroots event, which are being sold on a first-come first-served basis on the Scunthorpe Speedway website.
HEB Scunthorpe Scorpions’ 16-year-old star Jordan Palin will also feature in the meeting and he will be hoping to add the British Under-19 title to the British Youth Championship that he won last season.
Last weekend, Great Britain finished took third place in the World Under-21 Team Cup in Outrup, Denmark and four of the five-man squad will be on display at Scunthorpe – Kemp, Palin, Tom Brennan and Leon Flint.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “We’re expecting the British Under-19 Championship to be a superb meeting between some hugely talented young riders.
“There’s four-fifths of the GB lads who took the World Under-21 team bronze medal competing against each other this time around.
“We’ve got Drew Kemp defending his Under-19 crown, while Jordan Palin will get plenty of support from the home fans.
“We also know from the Scunthorpe vs Leicester challenge match what the likes of the Thompson twins, Dan and Joe, and Archie Freeman can do around the Eddie Wright Raceway.
“But I think you can go down the list of riders and most of the line-up are capable of finishing on the rostrum come the end of the meeting.
“It’s going to be so competitive, and of course, a national title is there for the taking for the winner.”
National government restrictions are not expected to affect this meeting – which is being run at grassroots level with local government approval.
