JORDAN PALIN and Simon Lambert will complete the line-up for HEB Scunthorpe Stags in their National League challenge against Leicester at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31st (3pm).

The pair join Wayne Carter, Ryan Kinsley, Jamie Halder, Archie Freeman and Harry McGurk, plus 250cc riders Luke Harrison and William Hocaniuk, in Stags’ nine-man line-up.

The grassroots event is the first team speedway meeting in the UK in 2020. A limited number of tickets have gone on sale on the club website.

Lambert and Palin were due to line-up at reserve for Scunthorpe Scorpions for the aborted 2020 SGB Championship. However, they are set to pair up after all – as the opening pairing for Stags in their challenge match.

16-year-old Palin has already been hitting the headlines this season, winning the 500cc class of the British Youth Championship round at the Eddie Wright Raceway, and being the top placed Brit in the European Under-19 Championship in Slovakia, finishing in seventh place in the official FIM classification on eight points.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I’m really happy about our team line-up for the Bank Holiday Monday. We have plenty of young riders on display, plus a couple of more experienced heads. Leicester are also putting together an exciting line-up and it should be a great match.

“There was a risk of 2020 being a totally wasted year for young British riders, but fortunately that’s not been the case for Jordan Palin.

“He did himself proud recently in the European Under-19 championship. He only received a last-minute call-up, but Jordan rode well in both his semi-final and the final and ended up as the best placed British rider in the competition.

“We’re out to give Jordan all the outings we can, and he was an obvious choice for the Stags in our challenge match.

“Simon Lambert also really wanted to do the meeting, and he will make an ideal No 1 for Stags.”

The innovative 19-heat heat format for the meeting on Bank Holiday Monday includes four 250cc races, with at least nine riders on each side.

There are a limited number of tickets on sale, which will be sold on a first-come first-served basis, so supporters are encouraged to buy sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
