Scorpions chasing an away victory
HEB Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking to collect an away win in their final Championship Shield group match at Redcar tonight (Friday, 7.30pm).
Scunthorpe have already secured second place in the Northern Group, behind Leicester Lions, courtesy of three home victories, including a 49-41 victory over Redcar Bears at the Eddie Wright Raceway last Friday.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “I believe that can go to Redcar and come back with a victory.
“A number of our lads have experience of riding for the Bears and we have riders who can score well around the place.
“With league and cup matches just around the corner, we want to keep the momentum going and come away with something to show for our efforts.”
Expected teams for tonight:
Redcar Bears: 1. Michael Palm Toft, 2. Tom Bacon, 3. Ben Barker, 4. Jordan Stewart, 5. Charles Wright, 6. Nathan Greaves, 7. Jack Smith.
HEB Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Josh Auty, 2. Danny Ayres, 3. Jason Garrity (captain), 4. Stefan Nielsen, 5. Jake Allen, 6. Ryan Kinsley, 7. Josh Bailey.
* HEB Scunthorpe Scorpions are next in action at home at the Eddie Wright Raceway next Friday (May 10th) at 7.30pm, when Newcastle Diamonds are their opponents in the opening league meeting of Scunthorpe’s 2019 campaign.
* Please note that the away leg of the Knockout Cup tie with Edinburgh has been moved forward to Saturday, May 11th (7pm) at Armadale Stadium. HEB Scorpions lead by eight points from the first leg.
