DEFIANT SCORPIONS SEEK VICTORY DESPITE DOUBLE BLOW
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will be without both Josh Auty and Jake Allen when they entertain Ipswich Witches at the Eddie Wright Raceway in Normanby Road tomorrow evening (Friday, 7.30pm).
Both Auty and Allen were involved in a horrible four-man pile-up at Somerset on Wednesday night. Auty suffered further damage to the ankle he hurt at Workington three weeks ago, while Allen’s body took a real battering.
Mason Campton will guest for Allen, while rider replacement will operate for Auty.
Auty and Allen were the only ever-presents for Scorpions this season until this point. All seven of Scunthorpe’s team have now been on the injury list during one point or other of the season.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Both Josh and Jake have been fantastic and so dependable for us this season, and there’s no doubt we will miss them.
“But we’re still out to take the win and collect the three points.
“Both our reserves, Gino Manzares and Danny Phillips, have been practicing hard at the Eddie Wright Raceway – including trying out different things with their set-ups.
“Gino and Danny are determined to turn around their form with a good showing against the Witches.
“My thanks go to Mason Campton for coming in as a guest at short notice.
“Ipswich have booked a couple of really good guests themselves, and I think it’s going to be a cracking evening of speedway.
“Scunthorpe v Ipswich encounters are always lively encounters and this promises to be no different.”
