Steve Worrall returns on Friday
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions’ No 1 and skipper Steve Worrall will return to action to the North Lincolnshire club at Peterborough on Friday evening.
The British World Cup star, arguably the best rider in the entire Championship, crashed out of Scunthorpe’s first meeting of the season on April 6, after being brought down by Redcar’s Jonas B Andersen, and sustained a broken leg.
He made a one-off comeback in the British Final at Belle Vue on June 11, but was not 100% fit and withdrew after three rides.
Worrall had announced that he would return for the Scunthorpe v Glasgow match at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, July 22, but is now ready to return before that date.
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Steve will be fully fit and raring to go, and I believe he will hit the ground running.
“It’s a huge boost to the club. Steve is an inspirational captain and his return will lift the entire team. Even while he’s not racing, he’s been there, offering encouragement and advise to the rest of the side.”
