JASON GARRITY finished fourth in an absorbing British Final at Belle Vue’s National Speedway Stadium in Manchester last night (Monday).

He came tantalisingly close to grabbing the wildcard spot at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium at the British Grand Prix in July, but could make no headway after a poor start in the Grand Final at the end of the night.

Earlier on, he had been involved in some thrilling speedway, taking two race wins on his way to 10 points in his heats, and he burst from last place to finish second place in the semi-final, to grab his spot in the final.

Fellow Scorpion Josh Auty was also in the thick of the action and scored 7 points, while Steve Worrall – on his return from his broken leg – scored 3 points from three rides, before sensibly withdrawing from the meeting.

Worrall did look smooth, but clearly the leg – while healing fast – is not quite ready for a full-time return to action quite yet.

King’s Lynn star Robert Lambert – a recent hero for Great Britain in the Speedway Of Nations – was a deserving winner of the meeting, taking six wins out of six in an unbeaten display.

FINAL: Lambert, Bewley, Cook, Garrity.
