SCUNTHORPE SCORPIONS, one of the favourites to win the 2018 Championship, have revealed the date on which they will first take to the track in competitive action at the Eddie Wright Raceway this year. The meeting will take place on Easter Sunday (April 1) at 3pm.

Scorpions’ opponents will be revealed when the BSPA publish their official fixture list. But, in the meantime, promoter Rob Godfrey wants fans to know the date – so that they can place it in their diaries.

Scunthorpe have already announced a powerhouse top six – Steve Worrall, Jason Garrity, Josh Auty, Jake Allen, Stefan Nielsen and Gino Manzares.

Scorpions will decide on their No 7, a British youngster on a 2.00 average, based on performances at the Eddie Wright Raceway in forthcoming weeks during the club’s busy winter amateur programme.

Godfrey says: “I can’t wait for the season to begin, and I’m counting down the days.

“Now our supporters can put Easter Sunday in their diaries, because that is the date when the Scunthorpe Scorpions will first appear at the Eddie Wright Raceway, in what will be our first fixture either home or away.

“There’s already a buzz around the town. The feel-good factor is back – people have told me that they are excited about the team we have put together.”
