Auty blow for Scorpions
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will have to go into at least two of their three meetings this weekend without Josh Auty, who sustained a shoulder injury in a multiple-rider pile-up at Wolverhampton on Monday night.
Scorpions visit Peterborough tomorrow (Friday), before journeying north of the border to face Glasgow on Saturday evening, and then entertain the Edinburgh Monarchs at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (5.30pm).
Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey explains: “Josh took quite a knock, so he’s going to sit out our meetings at Peterborough and Glasgow.
“But he’s determined to try to be back for the meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, when Edinburgh are in town.
“With the issue of our new averages, Lewis Kerr moves to No 1, while Josh Auty becomes our second heat-leader, which means all his team-mates can take a rider replacement ride.”
Jake Allen is set to return to Scorpions’ line-up after a spell out with a wrist injury.
Scorpions’ line-up for the away meetings at Peterborough and Glasgow: 1. Lewis Kerr, 2. Jake Allen, 3. Michael Palm Toft, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Rider Replacement for Josh Auty, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. Josh Bailey.
UPDATE: Tero Aarnio is missing at Glasgow at Saturday, due to the Finnish championship. Former Scunthorpe Stag Ryan MacDonald will replace him.
