HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions have received a big boost ahead of their three meetings this weekend, with the news that recent signing Jake Allen is all set to return from injury.

The 22-year-old Australian made two away appearances for Scorpions in early August, at Workington and in the fours at Peterborough, before being sidelined with a wrist injury.

He had an outing for his Premiership club Somerset at Swindon on Bank Holiday Monday, but he fell and withdrew from the meeting, and it was feared he could be ruled out for a further spell.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Jake did so well in the two meetings he did before his injury, scoring paid nine at Workington and then top-scoring for Scorpions in the fours at Peterborough.

“We’re glad to see him back, and it will be particularly interesting to see how he fares in his home debut for us, against Edinburgh at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday.”

Scorpions visit Peterborough on Friday, travel to Scotland on Saturday to face Glasgow, and then entertain the Edinburgh Monarchs at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (5.30pm).
