HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are hoping to cause what would be one of the biggest upsets of the season, away at local rivals Sheffield Tigers tonight (Thursday, 7.30pm).

Big-city rivals Sheffield are currently top of the SGB Championship table, having won their last ten league fixtures.

Scorpions will again operate rider replacement for the injured Jake Allen.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ve got nothing to lose tonight, because everyone is expecting Sheffield to win the meeting.

“The Tigers are having a fabulous season and are currently on a brilliant run of victories.

“But we’re not going along to Owlerton simply make-up the numbers. Ryan Douglas scored 13 points there last week while taking a guest booking, and it was Josh Auty’s home track for three years. We’ve got other riders who can score well around Sheffield as well.

“We’re chasing Newcastle and Workington in the league table and any points are welcome.”

Expected teams for tonight:

Sheffield Tigers: 1. Josh Grajczonek, 2. Todd Kurtz, 3. Lasse Bjerre, 4. Josh Bates, 5. Kyle Howarth, 6. Jan Graversen, 7. Georgie Wood.

Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft (captain), 2. Rider replacement for Jake Allen, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. Josh Bailey.
