Busy weekend for Scorpions

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions’ recent signing Jake Allen is due to make his debut for the club in SGB Championship action at Workington’s Derwent Park tonight (Saturday, 7pm).

The 21-year-old Australian was due to ride for Scorpions against the Comets at the Eddie Wright Raceway last Sunday, but the rain intervened.

Scorpions’ promoter Rob Godfrey says: “We pushed Workington close at their place in April, and we can be competitive there again.

“Jake Allen top scored for Somerset last night, in their home meeting against Belle Vue, and I have no doubt that he will add extra strength to our line-up.”

Scunthorpe are also in action this weekend at Peterborough in the SGB Championship Fours on Sunday afternoon (2pm). Allen will be permitted to ride for Scorpions, provided the weather doesn’t wash out their visit to Cumbria tonight.
