05. Palmtoft leads again in ht 5

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions’ skipper Michael Palm Toft will return to action, for the trip up to Teesside to face the Redcar Bears tonight (Thursday, 7.30pm).

The Dane missed Scorpions’ 54-39 home victory over Newcastle last Friday, after bruising his coccyx in a crash at Ipswich the previous night.

With the issue of the new Green Sheet averages, Palm Toft moves back to the No 1 spot, while Lewis Kerr exchanges places with him and will occupy the No 5 slot. Tero Aarnio shifts down to reserve, while Carl Wilkinson moves up and will wear the No 2 race-jacket.

Scorpions’ promoter Rob Godfrey says: “We took a very welcome victory over Newcastle at the Eddie Wright Raceway last Friday, with Ryan Douglas, Tero Aarnio and Josh Bailey all having their best meetings of the season, and – of course – we’d like to keep that momentum going at Redcar.

“The Bears are in contention for a play-off spot, but are having an up-and-down season. We’ve experienced how well they can ride away from home, but they’ve also shown just a slight vulnerability in front of their own supporters.

“We’ll approach the meeting with an open mind, and look to come out of it with at least a SGB Championship point.”

Expected teams for tonight:

Redcar Bears: 1. Aaron Summers (guest), 2. Rider replacement for Charles Wright, 3. Jonas B Andersen, 4. Ellis Perks, 5. Ben Barker, 6. Coty Garcia, 7. Danny Ayres.

Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft, 2. Carl Wilkinson, 3. Josh Auty, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Lewis Kerr, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. Josh Bailey.
