Scorpions face league leaders

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions will cross the border into Scotland to face the Edinburgh Monarchs at Armadale Stadium tonight (Friday, 7.30pm).

Edinburgh are currently top of the SGB Championship table, while Scorpions are ninth.

Scorpions will use 2014 Scunthorpe Stag Ryan MacDonald at No 7, in place of Josh Bailey. More news regarding the No 7 position at Scunthorpe is due over the new few days.

Monarchs have recently signed ex-Scorpion Theo Pijper as a temporary replacement for the injured Mark Riss.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “The league table doesn’t lie. Edinburgh are top of the table for a reason, which is that they’re a strong side.

“However, I’m sure we can give them a much closer battle than our respective league positions may suggest.”
